“loving What Is – Four Questions That Can Change Your Life” By Byron Katie – Book Review

About Byron Katie

Byron Katie, founder of The Work and has one job: to teach people how to end their own suffering. As she guides people through the powerful process called the Work, they find that their stressful beliefs-about life, other people and or themselves- radically shift and their lives are changed forever.

About the book

Loving What Is is the source book for The Work, filled with detailed instructions, anecdotes and numerous illustrative dialogues. Reading it and you can master The Work and helping yourself go deeper.

The Work is simply four questions that, when applied to a specific problem and enable you to see what is troubling you in an entirely different light. As Katie says, It’s not the problem that causes our suffering; it’s our thinking about the problem. Contrary to popular belief and trying to let go of a painful thought never works; instead, once we have done The Work and the thought lets go of us. At that point, we can truly love what is and just as it is.

About ‘The Work

In its most basic form and The Work consists of four questions and a turnaround.

  1. Is it true?
  2. Can you absolutely know it’s true?
  3. How do you react, what happens and when you believe that thought?
  4. Who would you be without the thought?

Then turn it around (the concept you are questioning), and don’t forget to find three genuine examples of each turnaround.

How and when to use the Work?

The Work can be applied in every situation. Any stressful belief that you might have in your personal life or in your business can be used to be explored and eliminated.

What thoughts are you struggling with?

  • You think you must be successful?
  • You think your colleagues don’t like you?
  • You think you are not good at your job?

Change your life

Reading the book changed my life. I try to apply The Work in any case of unhappy thoughts that I have. Trying to love what is. Believing that what is and is good. Always.

Stress isn’t good for your health and well being and business success. And therefore try to eliminate it. Being as successful as you can be.
