He was born in Adana in 1946. He completed his primary and secondary education in Adana and Istanbul and, higher education in Ankara. He began his career as speaker in 1974 in TRT Erzurum Radio. Afte passing the examination he was appointed as reductor speaker in TRT News Center in 1975. Mertcan who met television audience in 1976 resigned and engaged in politics. In addition to working in private channels such as Star Tv, Kanal 6, 9. Kanal as news speaker, he vocalized many documentaries. Mesut MERTCAN who has more than 30 “Best News Speaker of the Year” awards is married and has two children.
